FIG. 01 — INTELLIGENT WELDING WORKSTATION, MANUFACTURER'S FACTORY

The detachable container house is a bolted modular building system: factory-prefabricated steel modules are assembled on site, dismantled into their component modules, transported and re-erected elsewhere. For project buyers, the value lies in lifecycle economics rather than a single installation — a detachable container house can be recovered at the end of one project and redeployed on the next, which changes how accommodation and facilities are costed across a multi-site programme. CDPH manufactures at three production bases in China. The company's reported portfolio covers camps and facilities in more than 100 countries; that figure is company-wide, not specific to this module family.

How the Detachable System Works

Each module is built around a galvanised cold-formed steel frame (SGH340, t=3.0 mm), prefabricated in the factory and bolted together on site. Because the connections are bolted rather than welded, the modules can later be unbolted, separated and reused. The same module platform supports single, double, triple or higher storeys and I, U, L or courtyard plan layouts, so a detachable container house scheme can be configured around a site boundary, a camp grid or a phased masterplan.

The format sits within a wider family of factory-built accommodation; see our container houses range for the flat pack variant built on the same module system. Where a project requires relocation or later reconfiguration, the detachable format is normally the appropriate choice.

Dismantling, Transport and Reuse

Detachable modules are designed to be taken apart and reused rather than written off after a single deployment. This suits phased construction, temporary facilities with a known end date, and contractors who move between sites. The engineering review for each project considers the number of planned moves and the handling arrangements at each location; buyers should state the intended number of relocations at enquiry stage so that the connection design and finishes are matched to it.

Typical Applications

  • Engineering camps and construction accommodation
  • Commercial buildings and site offices
  • Emergency facilities
  • Education facilities
  • Military sites

CDPH has delivered reference projects including a port expansion camp in Cote d'Ivoire, a construction camp for a methanol plant, a camp for a cross-sea bridge project in Croatia, a natural gas project camp in Nigeria, a copper mine camp built for −55 °C conditions, and a living camp for a solar power station in Saudi Arabia whose fire performance was verified by Intertek testing.

Manufacture, Certification and Project Quoting

Beijing Chengdong International Modular Housing Corporation (brand CDPH) was founded in 2009 and operates three production bases — Hebei, Xinjiang and Sichuan — supported by 13 subsidiaries and offices, a team of more than 500 people and over 100 engineers. The Hebei base is 48 km from Tianjin Port. Overseas projects are run through CDPH (HAINAN) COMPANY LIMITED, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Beijing corporation. Certification covers CE for modular container houses, prefab houses and light steel villas; ISO 14001; ISO 45001; product carbon footprint certification; National High-Tech Enterprise status; NATA materials certification for Australia; Intertek fire-resistance certification; CCS factory approval; and Intertek ICC-ES / WH building-material compliance for the US market. Fourteen key welders are qualified to AWS, CWB and CE standards. Certificates available upon request.

Every project is quoted individually after engineering review; there is no standard MOQ.
